Weather Risk Solutions introduces a new commodity option called Hurricane Risk Landfall Options, or HuRLO™.
For years, people in the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico Coastal Regions believed little could be done to reduce their financial risk from tropical cyclones popularly known as hurricanes. Now a new form of financial instrument will help to reduce that financial risk.

We use proprietary weather algorithms developed by world class atmospheric scientists. Real Time Data from the NHC is extended and translated using our proprietary technology and statistical methods to compute landfall probabilities.
Prices are based on the buying decisions of market participants. Prices will reflect where market participants believe a hurricane is more or less likely to make landfall.
Our user friendly Storm Search tool is available (by year, month, origin, county, or zip code) to explore Storm Tracks™ of previous storms or potential tracks of current storms.
Purchase and sell HuRLOs™ in 79 mutually exclusive hurricane landfall outcomes. The option is the right to receive a settlement amount if a hurricane makes landfall first in the selected county or region or no landfall occurs in a calendar year. You or your broker may purchase and sell HuRLOs™ on our website. All transactions are cleared through CME Clearing House.
